No, if you”re on windows don”t use opengl worse performance than directx i tested on both a radeon(r9 280x) and a geforce(gtx780). Had some crashes on the radeon also.Vulkan will be coming by the end of this year i assume that”s when you”ll have more performance.Use dx11 on reborn for now until vulkan is released

Open GL is an alternative to rendering graphics without having to use DirectX. It”s a step in the right direction for DOTA, as eventually we (gamers) will no longer need to use DirectX (Windows) as a platform for gaming.

It will either use OpenGL or DirectX.Both contains algorithms to draw 3d shapes and textures and things like that. In Windows machines, the games are built on the DirectX graphics library, we”ll coz it”s Microsoft”s. OpenGL is much more powerful as far as I know, you can still use it in Windows, there”s no restriction of any sort, but in Linux and Unix systems, you basically always use OpenGL library. OpenGL is open source meaning, the web10_users(that knows how to code) cab contribute to the library by coding more efficient algorithms. I thought I was getting the OpenGL thing coz I work on that in my pc. Yea well.

As in it, determines what the hardware is capable of and uses the algorithms accordingly.But the problem could be that the way OpenGL was used in DOta 2 may not be optimized yet, you know, it took years for them to optimize Dota 2 in Direct X, in the coming updates the whole thing will be optimized. That”s how I see it.
